layer-nightmare-bigJust today I had a series of exported pngs that I needed to edit in Photoshop on quite a grand scale and then import those back into a video format to be edited. Before I get ahead of myself let me explain the scenario. I had 264 separate frames that would be very advantageous in a time saving way if I could some how automate layers in Photoshop.

Low and behold…IT IS A REALITY. If you should find yourself in a scenario where you would need to export Photoshop layers to individual PNG files then you’re in the right place. Follow these easy step by step, albeit time consuming; directions to batch process multiple images into one PSD file.

It’s super easy, but processor intensive. Set this up and go to lunch. For instance, I went to a long lunch and still had to give it 45 more minutes to fully export.

Easy Step by Step Directions to Import Multiple Images into 1 PSD File

  1. Open Photoshop
  2. At the top of your Photoshop menu, go to File > Scripts > Load Files into Stack
  3. From there, you’re prompted with a new window that has a few options/actions.
  4. File >> Scripts >> Export layers to files…

This is a Real Quick Photoshop Tip that I wanted to put out for future reference as I have never done this before. It came in super handy. I don’t know if I’ll ever use it again. I suspect I will. If you have to batch a lot of images you’ll appreciate this.
