Support The Hammer And Say F-You to the Man

The Hammer

Go watch Adam Carolla’s new movie debut, The Hammer. It’s only showing in limited theatres mostly on the west coast right now, but if there’s enough support it will be spread to more theatres. Hopefully near me. This way I don’t have to wait for the dvd to come out to see it.

This labor of love was mostly supported by Carolla and a few various investors. So far all the reviews I’ve read have been very positive.

If you listen to Carolla’s morning radio show you already know that he spent a long time shopping this movie around to various production houses. All gave it the big thumbs down while movies like, The Combacks and Drillbit Taylor benefitted from large production company funding.

So send a resounding F- You to the man and support the little film that could. If it were playing in Michigan I’d go see it myself, but for now all I can do is spread the word and wait for the dvd release. So far what I’ve seen, heard and read has been pure comedy gold. If you’re a Carolla fan please support the film. Good luck and Mahalo.

Using Photoshop Blending Effects To Make Your Graphics Stand Out

Tags: , , , ,
Web Development 3 Comments »

If you’ve never used blending effects in Photoshop you really need to hop on board. Blending effects can be particularly handy when creating the same effect over and over. This is especially beneficial when making graphics for a website that holds a set standard. Save a psd with layer effects applied to it and you can re-create the same look and feel time and time again without re-inventing the wheel.

Today we’ll be adding effects to textual graphics.

1. First off create a new text layer with a font of your choosing. I’m using my standard site font, “Dirty Ego“.

2. Blending Options Palette: Open the blending options palette. To do this right click on the layer you wish to apply effects to and select, “Blending Options”. This will open the palette up. Here you will have a number of effects to play with.

3. Drop Shadow: Select drop shadow from the blending options palette. You can keep the default settings where they are, but I find I like just a touch less of a drop shadow on my graphics. So I have the distance and size turned down from 5’s to 3’s.

4. Stroke: Select stroke from the same palette Here you will have the option to choose your outline color as well as thickness. By default it’s set to 3 pts red, but simply click on the color box to select a new color and reduce the line size in the same palette.

5. Inner Glow: Again in the blending options palette make your effect selections. Choose Inner Glow. By default the color is set to #ffffbe, but once again you can choose what ever color you wish to choose from the color palette. Select, “Blend Mode”, at the top to get a more controlled inner glow effect. Choose Normal instead of Screen.

Dr. Drew’s Reaction to 2 Girls 1 Cup

Tags: , ,
Entertaining Media No Comments »

I just found this one on YouTube. It’s a shot of Dr. Drew, Stryker and Producer Ann watching the nasty 2 Girls One Cup video. I sat through almost 5 seconds of the actual video. In fact I had to go to wikipedia to read all the details as it was way too nasty for me.

I’m a fan of the reaction videos and wasn’t aware this one was out there. So anyway here you go and enjoy.

From Crisis to Crysis

Computer Mess

I haven’t been posting much lately because life has been keeping me fairly busy and for what ever reason when it rains it pours and thus I’ve been shirking my blogging duties. One of the things keeping me from any regular posting is my new computer. Well…constructing my new computer. My motherboard died on me and I was forced to update all my components. I can’t say that I was entirely thrilled to have to spend the money, but it’s hard to get too upset when you buy a new toy.

I had to buy a new processor as most new motherboards today no longer support the 745 socket which my AMD Athlon 2800 requires. I upgraded to A Pentium Dual Core 2.2 gig processor. Ofcourse my old 256 ATI card was no longer compatible with the new board as AGP is being fazed out for PCI Express hence I upgraded to a Nvidia GeForce 8500 GT 512 MB card which looks so much better than I imagined it even could. And last but not least I had to upgrade my Ram to PC 2 DDR giving me now 2 gigs of speedy ram.

So I’m pretty pleased with my new machine. I’ve over-clocked it just a bit and this baby really hums. I needed to put it together for freelance projects, but I have to admit I’m thrilled with the way it plays all the new Direct X 10 games especially Crysis which I have to admit I am quickly becoming addicted to.

Just look at the videos below. It’s so close life like.

Below are links to a couple updates and patches that fix some errors with the original Crysis install.

Kings of Wings

The name of the place is Kings of Wings. They specialize in Chicken, Fish, Rib Tips and Kool Aid. No this isn’t a photoshopped image. It’s a real place. I ran across this just the other day and had to post an image. Next time I’m out this way I’ll have to stop in and write a review. I hope they have tropical punch.
