Photo Album Mosaic Graphic

I just installed the Flickr Photo Album plugin for WordPress by Tan Tan Noodles. It’s a really cool plugin that syncs to your flickr account. Flickr Photo Album creates a really sharp looking gallery page pulling titles and tags from your account.

You can search photos by tags or by the albums you create online. It offers a cool looking flickr Flash slideshow. It even pulls the notes you place on your pics from flickr. Two thumbs way up in the air.

Flickr Photo Album for WordPress Reviewed

I just downloaded the Flickr Photo Album for WordPress. I have to say I really dig it. It creates html pages for your galleries by connecting to your flickr account. I need to scale back my current photo gallery, but right now the plug in doesn’t support the ability to choose between your albums. So the main gallery takes a little while to load as it’s pulling all pictures from my account. That said it creates these fantastic galleries and even has a neat slide show feature.

The galleries are embedded directly from Flickr and even contain flickr notes. Each picture page has a nicely laid out navigation with next and last pictures. The plug in also pulls and inserts your tags from flickr to each image. Which is fantastic for the search engines from an SEO stand point.

The only thing I would ask from tantannoodles.com is the ability to create galleries of selected albums from flickr or the ability to show a certain number of photos in the main gallery. Maybe break them into pages when you have a certain number of images..? It’s a super cool plug in if you’re into Wordpress & Flickr. Two thumbs up!

Configure your report

Create New User Account

In order to assign just who receives this reporting you will need create a user account for the person who is to receive these reports.

Twitter Account Suspended For Strange Activity

Twitter Account Suspended

Twitter Account Suspended

I just got a rather disturbing email from my good friend telling me that my Twitter account has been suspended. I haven’t been able to log in for the past few weeks, but assumed it was a Twitter programming issue as it always told me to try and login later. Now I find that I am suspended for strange activity. Has this happened to anyone else? Does any one know why?

Twitter Bug Report

Sent: August 25 2008, 12:26 PM

“I just got an email from a friend trying to add me as a contact. He sent me a screen shot of a page that read, “This account is currently suspended and is being investigated due to strange activity”. I haven’t been able to log in in for the past few weeks. I thought it was an issue with Twitter. Now it looks like I’m suspended??? Can someone let me know what’s going on. I’d like to be able to tweet again, but for some reason am unable to right now. I think this issue might have started around the same time I installed the tweet this plugin for Firefox. It’s hard to tell though as I’m not sure how long my account has actually been suspended.”

How to Use Photoshop Blending Options

Tags: , , , ,
Geek Blog, Web Development No Comments »

Photoshop blending options give your images and text some extra impact. Drop shadows, gradients, outlines, bevels and more will give your graphics that professional look you are striving for. Below I’ll be explaining the, “Blending Options”, Pallet in Photoshop.

First off to get to the, “Blending Options”, pallet right click on the layer you wish to apply effects to. You’ll get a list of options. Blending options is the second in that list.

How to Use Photoshop Blending Options

Drop Shadow

How to Use Photoshop Blending Options

Yep you guessed it…the drop shadow option adds a shadow to your image or text. This effect makes your images jump off the page and give them the illusion of depth. I use this effect all the time in conjunction with, “stroke”, when making images for my site.

Inner Shadow

How to Use Photoshop Blending Options

Again this effect lives up to it’s name inner shadow also helps give your text a realer 3dimensional quality.

Outer Glow

How to Use Photoshop Blending Options

Outer glow has many different applications. By adjusting the spread and opacity you can create a nice haloed effect that works well for putting behind cut out images giving them more impact. If you keep the size of the glow small you can make your text or images larger and more pronounced.

Inner Glow

How to Use Photoshop Blending Options

Normally you wouldn’t use all these effects together as your project would get far too busy, but for the sake of this tutorial you will at least get the idea of what each option can do. I like to use the inner glow sparingly mostly on text to give my graphics more impact.

Bevel And Emboss

How to Use Photoshop Blending Options

This effect is by far way to over-used by Photoshop newbies. The, “Bevel and Emboss”, option gives your graphics a sense of roundedness. Used sparingly this effect can be quite elegant, but like I said before is the downfall of many new designers. Play with the opacity and light angle to get the effect that is right for you.

Color Overlay

How to Use Photoshop Blending Options

The color overlay is an option I use the least, but can be handy on occasion especially when working with shapes. Color overlay will replace your shape with what ever color you choose while maintaining other blending effects.

Gradient Overlay

How to Use Photoshop Blending Options

This is a neat looking effect. It applies well to text, but will work with images as well. Gradients can be altered by toggling through the colors and slider at the bottom.

Pattern Overlay

How to Use Photoshop Blending Options

This is one I personally don’t use that often, but can produce some interesting effects. Photoshop has some prefabbed patterns you can use or if you feel so inclined you can import your own through the pattern manager arrow on the side of the pattern box.

Stroke

How to Use Photoshop Blending Options

I use this one all the time. With the, “Stroke”, option you can put a defined line around any image or text. This is the other option I use when building graphics for my site. It provides a defined edge around your content.
