Now I know what you’re thinking as you increase the kung-fu grip on your trusty brown stained travel mug. I WILL NEVER STOP DRINKING COFFEE YOU COMMIE!!! or I’LL STOP DRINKING COFFEE WHEN YOU PRY MY MUG FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS!
I hear you there. I’ve been drinking coffee for years and have no intention of quitting. However, a few years ago I passed my 2nd kidney stone. That’s right #2. So any of you ladies out there think I don’t know what child birth is like….well your right. I do however know what it is like to have a barbed mace spelunking in my innards. I once had the paramedics pick me up as I was rendered unconscious from pain. I then passed out a 2nd time when I got to the emergency room.
Why do I mention this? After doing some research on kidney stones I found that there are a couple things you can do to help avoid them in the future.
- Increase the amount of citrus fruits in your diet
- Drink more water
- Cut back on coffee consumption
I’ve since switched over to drinking more tea. It has as much caffeine as coffee, but it also provides many benefits. Green and black teas are natural diuretics. They aid with the elimination of free radicals and help ward off prostate cancer and Alzheimer’s. The laundry list of benefits goes on and on and on.
With that said, I regularly drink the teas below.
I would tell you what brands these are, but I really don’t know. I don’t speak Taiwanese. I have a friend that picks me up tea from a small mountainside village every time he travels home to Taiwan. These are free tea leaves not bagged. I prefer these over Lipton, but suit yourself.
Here are a couple of good links for ordering tea online.
