Recently my office moved over to Zimbra as our mail client. It’s a pretty robust feature filled program that I found I knew nothing about. For the past couple days I’ve been working on getting Zimbra running as well as my beloved Thunderbird. Here are a few tips for anyone out there new to Zimbra.
Importing Thunderbird Address Book Into Zimbra
1. First you’ll need to Dawn 5.4 Here
2. Open Dawn and go to File > Add > Add from Address Book

3. Choose an Application. Select Thunderbird on the left then choose your Address Book on the right then hit next.

4. After hitting next you should see a page like this. If you don’t hit the back button and choose another Address book until you see your contacts.

5. Now go to File > Save > Export Into Address Book

6. Choose Comma Separated Values (CSV) File. Click the browse button and give your CSV file a name you can remember ex: (mycontacts.csv)

7. Open Zimbra and choose Preferences

8. Select Address Book

9. Upload CSV File. Delete any empty entries and viola.

Adding RSS Feeds to Zimbra
Adding a feed to Zimbra is as easy as creating a folder. Just right click on the parent item of where you want the feed to be displayed and click “New Folder”.
If you want the feed folder to be displayed inside of the “Inbox” folder, then right click on “Inbox”. If you want it to be a “Top Level” folder (which means that it is along side the inbox), then right click on “Folders” located on the left hand side.

Change Zimbra Password
Preferences > General > Change Password
Add Custom Signature To Zimbra
Preferences > Signatures
Once you add a signature you need to save your current changes. Then click on the accounts tab and select your signature from the dropdown.
