Celebrity Deaths 💀
Recently, the world bid farewell to several cherished celebrities who were prominent figures in the 1980’s and left indelible marks in all of their respective fields. These celebrities all held a special place in the hearts and minds of Generation X. We grew up with these socialites from the time we were young and in turn were effected by these particular celebrity deaths.
The 80’s were the last of the Wild West days as far as child rearing went. We had a lot more autonomy than today’s kids have. We were the generation that defined the term Latchkey kids. Often times coming home to an empty house, eating fruit rollups and watching what ever was on tv until our parents got home from work. It’s for this reason and more why Generation X had a closer connection to these folks than any other possibly.
Maybe that’s why we’re all helicopter parents today..?

Through her radio and television shows, including “Sexually Speaking,” she provided frank, compassionate advice that empowered millions to embrace healthy relationships and sexual well-being. Her wit, wisdom, and unwavering advocacy for sexual education will continue to inspire.
On Sunday nights in the mid 80’s I used to set my flip style alarm clock for 11pm so I could wake up to listen to Dr. Ruth’s radio program with the volume turned down really low. I was in the 4th grade at the time. Years later I would find that friends I didn’t know at the time did the same thing when we would break out our best Dr. Ruth impressions. By the way, she’s always looked like this and been perpetually a senior citizen.
