Celebrity Deaths
When celebrities die it’s a news story thanks to the likes of of sites like TMZ. Be it from disease, old age or mishap their deaths become a news item because of their celebrity. All of these following unfortunate celebrities died of very strange, very macabre and often unexplained causes. They are as random and unexpected as they are unusually off kilter. It’s as if there was a galactic puppet master that drove these stars to their ultimate demise like twisted possessed marionettes.
Shocking Celebrity Deaths #1 The Poltergeist Curse
The 1982 horror classic Poltergeist is an appropriate place to start this whole thing off. A truly bizarre set of events is attached to this epic piece of celluloid. Ironically or not many of the stars of this film died shortly after the movie debuted. The following list tells it’s own tale. It would seem that the cast of this classic horror film was as unlucky in life as they were on the silver screen.
- Heather O’Rourke the youngest daughter died January 31, 1988. She was prescribed prednisone to treat what was thought to be Crohn’s disease. She had a bad reaction to the medication and began vomiting and was unable to swallow. She died of cardiac arrest on the way to the hospital. It was later determined that the actual cause of death was due to septic shock brought on by the intestinal stenosis caused by a bowel obstruction.
- Dominique Dunne played the older daughter. She died November 4, 1982, at the tender age of 22. She was strangled to death by her charmer of a boyfriend. He went to prison for 6 years, but only ended up serving 3 1/2 before he was paroled.
- Julian Beck who played Henry Kane in Poltergeist II died on September 14, 1985, of stomach cancer. She received her diagnosis before signing her contract for the sequel.
- Will Sampson the actor that played Taylor the medicine man in Poltergeist II died as a result of post-operative kidney failure on June 3, 1987.
The Twilight Zone Accident
Actor Vic Morrow and two child actors, Myca Dinh Le and Renee Shin-Yi Chen died in an unfortunate accident while filming the Twilight Zone movie on July 23, 1982. They were filming a night scene where Morrow and the 2 children were being chased by US soldiers in a helicopter. The helicopter lost control when a mortar effect went off disabling the tail rotor. Morrow and Chen were beheaded by the blades while trying to escape. Le was crushed by the skids of the helicopter on impact. 6 more people were injured in the crash.
David Carradine
On June 3, 2009 David Carradine was found hanging by a rope naked in his hotel room closet. It was thought to be suicide when his body was first found. Later it was stated by 2 of Carradine’s ex-wives that he was into deviant sexual behavior. Apparently, the actor had a dark side. He was into bondage and sexual behavior described as potentially deadly. Coroner reports later described that Carradine died of auto-erotic asphyxiation. He was 72 years old.
Shocking Celebrity Deaths #4 Elizabeth Short a.k.a. The Black Dahlia
Elizabeth Short also known as “The Black Dahlia” a name she was given posthumously was found bi-sected. Her body sliced in 2 at the waist on January 15, 1947. She was found naked in a vacant lot in Leimert Park, Los Angeles. Her body was discovered by a woman walking her 3-year-old daughter at 10 in the morning. At first, the woman thought it was a mannequin, but quickly realized it was a corpse and fled to a nearby house to phone the police.’
Her body was completely drained of blood and washed clean by the killer. Her mouth was slashed from end to end in what is called a Glasgow smile made popular by English street gangs. The body had multiple cuts on the breasts, thigh and butt as well. She was found positioned by the killer. Her bottom half was placed about a foot away from her upper half. Her intestines were neatly folded away and placed under her buttocks. She was posed with her hands over her head. Her elbows were at right angles and her legs were spread.
Elizabeth Short was an innocent girl that died far too young. The mugshot above is the only crime she ever committed. She was arrested for underage drinking. The moniker “Black Dahlia” was derived from a popular movie at the time the Blue Dahlia. It was a film noir murder mystery piece.
Shocking Celebrity Deaths #5 Ben Woolf
I’ll end up this post with one of the most recent and possibly most twisted & shocking celebrity deaths in recent history. The actor Ben Woolf of American Horror Story fame died quickly and quite unexpectedly when he was hit by a car while J-walking. The 34-year-old actor was walking on a popular Hollywood street and was clipped by the side mirror of passers by car. He was hit in the head and died from complications of a stroke the following day.
I’m Not Really that Creepy
Thanks for reading everyone. I’m really not all that creepy of an individual. I have 2 kids, a regular job, I pay taxes and try to keep up with a somewhat high fiber diet. I just have an interest in the macabre. Be it cinema or real life for some reason I’m fascinated by the unexplained and twisted.
